“At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, CDS worked to implement creative methods to support local businesses by increasing public and outdoor seating and dining areas and maintaining clean and safe public spaces for visitors. Through placemaking, CDS’s clients have been able to achieve these goals, bolstering their local economies and strengthening their districts’ social fabric.”

Downtown New Jersey’s most recent article highlights some of the state’s downtown-centered efforts to promote businesses amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In the article, ‘Downtowns Help Businesses Expand Outdoors’, CDS is listed as one of 35 downtown place management organizations with successful projects and/or programs on which the article focuses. Of these efforts, CDS submitted three from three separate districts including: The ‘Streatery’ at Journal Square, the Tree House Café Parklet on West Side Avenue, and the Voucher Program for Newark Residents through the Mt. Prospect Partnership.
